Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful gets new logo

Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful recently unveiled their new logo, which has already received widespread acceptance. The new logo intertwines a leaf with Riverside’s trademark raincross symbol to convey the clean, natural beauty of the environment-friendly city. That the leaf subtly resembles a hand cupping the raincross further enforces the concept of nature’s beauty supporting the image of the City.

Artesian Design, a Riverside, CA design firm, worked with KRCB Director, Connie Librenjak, to create the new visual identity for the organization. The design process went extremely smooth, with one of the initial concepts being selected and approved. The initial design was approved without revisions - even with a committee of reviewers, which included Riverside’s mayor, Ron Loveridge. The ease of the entire process has once again proven that the people at Artesian Design understand their clients and their audiences, and know how to deliver quality creative work.

KRCB is a program of both the City of Riverside and the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. The organization does just what its name says - it keeps Riverside looking attractive through many volunteer events. Past events, which often draw hundreds of volunteers in a single day, have included neighborhood clean-ups, tree planting, graffiti removal, and many other beautification projects.

Performance Mechanical Contractors gets new site

Artesian Design has just launched an all-new web site for PMC (Performance Mechanical Contractors). PMC is a general contractor that constructs geothermal energy plants. Talk about green energy! These plants get water from deep underground. The water gets so hot passing through lava layers that it turns into steam. This steam spins turbines - which generate a ton of electricity, sometimes powering whole cities!

It was pretty exciting learning about the whole process. Check out their web site to find out more about what they do.

Ruby’s Farmhouse is finally live!

Screen capture of the rubysfarmhouse.com web site

The Ruby’s Farmhouse Boutique store is finally LIVE!  For this post, I thought I would give you a glimpse into the way we approached one of our projects.

This was a fun project to take on, a creative style we haven’t experimented with much.  Ruby’s Farmhouse Boutique is an online store for retro kitchen and home items. Most of the products are reproductions from the 1940s and 1950s era.

The client needed a logo and fully functioning web store for a large inventory of products….all just before Christmas. Yikes!  The store is a brand new startup, so we had a blank slate to work from.    But everything needed to convey the personality and appeal of a classic retro coolness.  Now, I am not one of those cool retro loving types, and I don’t wear girly aprons very much.  So this was a little bit of a stretch outside my creative comfort zone - but we’re always up for a good challenge.

We started with the logo and color palette.  After playing with several different concepts we selected one with cherries and red, turquoise, blue, and green palette.   Cherries were chosen as the central graphic element because of their broad appeal.  We wanted this site to connect with an older audience that appreciate the nostalgic value of these authentic reproductions, as well as younger hipsters that just like anything “retro”.  We wanted something cool, but not too cool.  Cherries fit the bill.  Everyone loves cherries. SouthTech Systems Announces New Web Site

SouthTech Systems, a developer of software solutions for local governments and agencies, has launched their new corporate web site this week. The site features detailed information about many of the products offered by the company.  Existing customers may also log in to receive either live support or access the online support ticket system. “We’re excited about the new corporate site, we can’t wait to show it off”, said Jose Dominguez, President of SouthTech Systems, who was eager to share the new site with customers as soon as it was live.

SouthTech Systems had recently re-located to Riverside and recognized the need to update their whole corporate image.  The company came in contact with Artesian Design, who began by creating a whole new corporate logo.  Sales brochures, ad concepts and trade show graphics followed. A part of the process included assisting in the development of a tag line that briefly describes what SouthTech is all about. This new tag line has been a key part of each new marketing piece produced  by the design and marketing firm.

SouthTech Systems builds complete software solutions specifically designed to meet the needs of government offices including: County Recorders, County Clerks, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Election Officials and City Clerks. Imperial Pipe launches new web site

Imperial Pipe has launched the new imperialpipe.com, the latest in the effort by Artesian Design Inc to re-brand the entire visual identity of the company. Artesian Design began the corporate identity overhaul over a year ago by creating a new company logo and assisting with a minor re-naming of the company (removing the word “Services” from the existing name). Since then, the design firm has produced a corresponding identity package - and now a completely new web site featuring the wide range of services offered.

Key to the transition to the new name and logo was a Graphic Standards manual which sets forth clear guidelines on the use and implementation of the logo and supporting graphics. The information was quickly put to use internally and has assisted the staff as they applied the new identity to everything from equipment to their finished product, coated pipe.

Imperial Pipe is an industrial manufacturing company that specializes in the engineering, fabrication, and processing of steel pipelines. Servicing a wide range of customers - including, contractors, developers, water agencies and municipalities. Imperial Pipe has become a strong resource for the infrastructural development and growth in the greater Inland Empire area.

If Fonts were People

This was just too funny to not pass on. What would happen if fonts were people? Well, some young guns put together a nice clip of their ideas and it’s quite funny! There must have been quite a bit of work put into it, too.

I was surprised by the hero at the end of the story. I guess it makes sense that a typeface created specifically for use in graphic novels and the Sunday paper would be the superhero. Some of the other characters are way off, but many are dead-on. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to America of course! But also to Daniel. Keep up the graphic goodness!
